CV & Interview Tips


What to put in a CV:

  1. Include your address, contact numbers and email address
  2. Education – List relevant courses, education and trade certificates
  3. Licences – For example 3, 4, 5, F etc (with expiry dates where relevant)
  4. Employment History – List your work experience from the most recent backwards. Include the company, your job title, dates of employment and responsibilities
  5. Referees – nominate recent managers
    • Make sure it is easy to read. Think about layout and use bullet points to list your responsibilities.
    • You do not have to include your family and marital status, date of birth, nationality or religion.
    • Always proof read for grammatical and spelling errors.

How to prepare for an interview:

  • Think about what experience or skills the interviewer needs to
    hear about
  • What examples from your previous roles can you talk about?
  • Be prepared to say why you are interested in the employer and job
  • Know where to go, how to get there, how long it will take you and where to park
  • Be smartly and appropriately dressed

During the interview:

  • Firm handshake
  • Maintain eye contact and smile
  • Show the interviewer that you are genuinely interested
  • Don’t be too casual with your language
  • Answer questions by using relevant examples
