CV & Interview Tips
What to put in a CV:
- Include your address, contact numbers and email address
- Education – List relevant courses, education and trade certificates
- Licences – For example 3, 4, 5, F etc (with expiry dates where relevant)
- Employment History – List your work experience from the most recent backwards. Include the company, your job title, dates of employment and responsibilities
- Referees – nominate recent managers
- Make sure it is easy to read. Think about layout and use bullet points to list your responsibilities.
- You do not have to include your family and marital status, date of birth, nationality or religion.
- Always proof read for grammatical and spelling errors.
How to prepare for an interview:
- Think about what experience or skills the interviewer needs to
hear about
- What examples from your previous roles can you talk about?
- Be prepared to say why you are interested in the employer and job
- Know where to go, how to get there, how long it will take you and where to park
- Be smartly and appropriately dressed
During the interview:
- Firm handshake
- Maintain eye contact and smile
- Show the interviewer that you are genuinely interested
- Don’t be too casual with your language
- Answer questions by using relevant examples
